Ironman Certified Coach, Kevin Cutjar will work directly with you to provide your training program and guidance, to ensure improved performance in your upcoming long distance triathlon.
Your personalized training program is constructed with these factors in mind:
- Your time available to train.
- Strengths and weaknesses OR areas for most improvement.
- Your personal training preferences, available local group sessions and local resources.
Philosophy and Training Logic:
SWIM – Our goal is to improve your swim-specific-fitness and skills, to support your open water long-distance triathlon swims.
- 3 key endurance based swim workouts per week are usually prescribed to maintain great feel for the water and appropriate weekly volume for your upcoming race.
- You’ll see a variety of swim sessions that include specific details for warm-ups, main-set intervals sets and cool-downs, with written (PDF) sheets and workout overview videos.
BIKE – Our aim is to develop exactly what your long distance triathlon demands.
- Maximize Aerobic and Muscular endurance and Threshold power
- Improve your ability to sustain a continuous effort at a moderate to comfortably-hard pace, for hours on end.
- 2 or 3 key workouts each week. Other rides may be included for transition training and as short recovery sessions.
RUN – Ironman and 70.3 competition requires that you have the ability to keep running.
- It’s not always about raw speed, as it is about resilience and durability – Run Endurance.
- Triathlon Warrior balances off the necessity for high intensity speed and hill work, with the priority for staying injury free so you can be consistent in training and build your run specific endurance.

PERSONALIZED PROGRAM – Your background in triathlon and the individual sports, as well as any history of injury or medical conditions are factors that your coach will consider, when designing your individual workouts and overall training progression.

RECOVERY – Is supported along with way, by including a weekly Rest Day or more accurately described as a “Triathlon Free Day” – as well as easy (recovery) workouts within each week, where applicable. A progressive overload training structure, with Easy-Recovery weeks included, is used in the build toward your race.

NUTRITION – Key to peak performance in long distance triathlon racing, is to ensure you have pre-race and race-day nutrition strategies, considering your weight, race duration and intensity. Your coach will work with you 1on1 to ensure you have your nutrition plans confirmed for each race.

Triathlon Warrior Mind-Set
Beyond the training program - techniques to improve athletic and personal performance.
GOAL SETTING – Stay motivated and build confidence with techniques to determine short term goals that build toward your Race Race Specific and Long Term Goals.
CONFIDENCE – Walk to the start on race day, knowing you belong there, have done the work required and are well prepared to achieve your goals.
DISCIPLINE – Create habits that build consistency and improve self-belief.
PATIENCE – With the training process and your race day pacing – It’s part of the Triathlon Warrior State of Mind.
MENTAL STRENGTH & RESILIENCE – Tactics to simulate challenging race & training conditions. Toughness can be trained.
PRE-RACE ROUTINES – Prepare for all possible scenarios.
RACE EXECUTION – Strategies for pacing, nutrition and hydration.

Working with your Triathlon Warrior Coach, will ensure you;
Exit the water in good time, feeling like you're getting out of the shower not the washing machine!
You will bike at a strong and consistent pace for the entire distance, while executing your nutrition and hydration plan and preparing to be as strong as possible going onto the run.
In Ironman and 70.3 competition; if you have a great run, you’ll have a great race. There’s nothing like the feeling of powering through the second half of the run and thinking: “there’s no place I’d rather be right now” as you run past the competition.
